Biography

He was born on January 6, 1962. In 1980, he graduated from the Moscow Academic Choreographic School, where he studied under the tutelage of teacher A. Prokofiev. Upon graduation, he was accepted into the ballet company of the Bolshoi Theatre.

Over eight years with the company, he performed leading roles in ballets such as "The Nutcracker," "The Sleeping Beauty," "Giselle," "Ivan the Terrible," "The Golden Age," "Raymonda," "Swan Lake," and others.

He also performed on the stages of La Scala with Carla Fracci and the Paris Opera with Isabelle Guérin, and collaborated with Maurice Béjar in Lausanne. He worked as a guest soloist at the Rome Opera, the Royal Swedish Opera, and other renowned ballet companies.

In 1993, he revived three ballet masterpieces by the legendary choreographer Mikhail Fokin: "Petrushka," "Scheherazade," and "The Firebird." These ballets, created for the famous Diaghilev's "Ballets Russes" in Paris, were staged in Russia for the first time.

In 1997, he founded the Maris Liepa Charitable Foundation and serves as Chairman of the Board. He is a member of the Board of Trustees of the "Cherry Forest" festival.
